Zena

Zena was a very special bun who we called our "Nursie Bun." She was best known for taking care of her big sisters Anjelika and Anjelique, who were our special needs buns.

It was not unusual to see Zena stuffing her mouth with hay. Once she had stuffed as much hay in her mouth as possible, she would take the hay to Anjelika or Anjelique and nudge them to eat.

If Zena thought they needed water, she would immerse her face in their water bowl until it was soaked, hop to Anjelika or Anjelique, lay in front of either of them and urge them to groom her face to get the water.

Zena somehow injured her back and was starting to show weakness in her hind end. This did not disuade her from taking care of her sisters.

When Anjelika passed to the Rainbow Bridge, Zena took it really hard and stepped up her care of Anjelique. She fussed over her like a mother hen.

When we lost Anjelique, Zena went into a deep depression and nothing seemed to motivate her to eat or drink. Even with forced feedings and medication for pain, slowly her health failed.

We knew she was heart-broken and missed her sisters because she would lay in their favorite spot and not move for hours.

We believe Zena lost her will to live when her sisters passed. I held Zena in my arms and kissed her nose. She licked my nose, went limp in my arms and passed over the Rainbow Bridge.

We know Zena is now with Anjelika and Anjelique on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

We miss her dearly, and know she's there taking care of everybunny.
